Tomorrow is a New Year

On the patio during Christmas Holidays

It's been awhile since Foster Mom and I checked in. Christmas has come and gone, and tomorrow is a New Year!!!

Christmas was great. Lots of treats, goodies... and presents. And even SNOW!!! Up until Christmas Eve it looked lige we were going to have a green Christmasm but then we got a few flakes, and it snowed ( lightly) most of Christmas Day. That made everyone happy. But Mom says it can all go away early in January. She only wants snow for Christmas.

 In one my Christmas sweaters.

The only not-so-fun things at this time of year is that humans think we doggies look so cute dressed up in sweaters, hats, scarves, etc. Don't they know our fur keeps us warm.... maybe those hairless and really short-haired type of doggies need them,, but not anyone here. But we try to oblige and wear them with a "smile" (sigh).

On couch with Peeka ( the other foster doggy here)

Mom and I will be more diligent in keeping this blog current in the New Year. She has LOTS of pictures to post.  On the meantime, belated Christmas wishes and a VERY  HAPPY NEW YEAR to all.

I'm Thankful

I'm thankful for many things, but especially  for passing the HW retesting last month.

I was HW tested again back in September, and GREAT NEWS. The heartworm is all gone!!! The treatment was successful and I'm a healthy boy again.

I was also "fixed," and foster mom says that's a good thing. Personally I think that's a pretty nasty thing to go through, but the doctor and nurses were all real nice so it really wasnt too bad.

We celebrated Thanksgiving on Sunday.  It was a great day. We all went for a LONG car ride to a my foster parent's sons place.  We all had a great time. And I found a special new human  friend who's name is Joe, just like me. ( But he's not called JoJo)

We had turkey (yum yum) for dinner. It was a great day.

All four of us doggies slept all the way home.

Walkies

Coming back from a walk with Gizmo and Booda

Even though there's four of us doggies here now, we only all go for a walk together when  Foster Mom and Dad can both go. They say it's hard to juggle more than three leads at the same time.

I think I'm the one mostly responsible for that! I like to investigate things, and sometimes that means the leashes get tangled up.

Wait guys, I see something over there...could be a chipmunk or a squirrel!

OK, I'll sit still for a minute so you can take another picture.

We all love our walkies, whether we all go together, in pairs, or alone. Walkies and treat time...those are my two favorites.

My name is JoJo, but I'm still listed as JOE, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel/Pekingese Mix,
Mom says there's absolutely no peke in me, and will get that changed to Cavalier King Charles Spaniel/English Toy Spaniel

The "Dog Days" of Summer

Why do they call these the "dog days" of summer?

It's too hot to be outside most of the day. Foster Mom says we could get heat stroke, so we have to stay indoors except for mornings and late afternoons and evenings. I like to be outside whenever I can.

It's nice and cool in my "den"

Sometimes I like to just lie under one of the chairs on the patio.

Door's open, must be alright to go out now.

Today's not too bad, Mom hasn't closed the patio door, so it must be alright to go out. It's not that sunny anyway. Lots of cloudy periods. Looks like rain. I don't mind, as long as there's no thunder.

My Den

I have my very own den in the patio. It's behind the swing and lilac tree. I dug it out all by myself and love to go in it whenever it gets  hot or just to have a quiet time.

I only dug up one little plant to make it, and Foster Mom just laughed and said that was alright.

I'm so glad she's letting me keep it. It's so cozy in there. I hope none of the other doggies try to use it. I really don't want to share it.

Caught In The Act

Gizmo and I were bad boys yesterday. We dug up some of Mom's plantings in the patio.

That dirt looks SOOOO enticcing

Caught in the act.

She even got pictures of us in the act, so there really was no way of playing innocent.

I'm sorry

She scolded us, but she didn't stay mad very long, cause we were both really sorry.

This 'N That

There's something funny about that mat!
That's me inthe middle, with Booda  on the left and Mowgli on the right.

Just before Mowgli left us for his forever home, Foster Mom put a new mat in front of the patio door. Don't know what it was, but none of us doggies wanted to step on it. We all either jumped over it or tried to squeeze past it. Foster Mom and  Dad thought it was a riot.  We all got used to it though, and it doesn't bother us anymore.

Hey guys, it's time to go back on the patio!..

Summer is such a great time. Mom leaves the patio door open all day so we can go in and out whenever we please. But we're limited to the fenced-in patio unless we're on a long lead . That's in case we decide to wander, and she can't run after all three of us at the same time.  (Sometimes we don't come right away when she calls)

Taking a 'cat nap' in Foster Mom's lap.
Why do they call it that? Doggies like to nap too.

Sometimes I just like to take a short nap on Mom's lap. I love to cuddle. I'll miss my foster Mom when I get adopted, but I sure would love a forever home of my own. Foster Mom says I just have to be patient and wait for the right one to come along.

Almost Summer

Me in front of flower bed.

After what seemed like rainy days forever, it's finally almost summer, and that means I can spend a lot of time outdoors lying in the sun. But sometimes I like to find a little shade, so yesterday I got in behind the flowers and dug myself a little bed. That got me in trouble. Seems only Foster Mom is allowed to play in the flower bed.

Under the maple tree with Gizmo

So I'll have to be content to lie under the maple tree, where Gizmo spends a lot of time. He doesn't like to be in the sun too long.

On patio swing with Mowgli

We had a little puppy here for the last three weeks. His name was Mowgli. He got adopted and went to his forever home on Saturday. He kept jumping around and wanting to play when I was resting or having a nap.

I love summer

It's bedtime now, so I better get my sleep. Mom says it'll be another sunny day tomorrow.

Easter and Adoption Days

Hi All,

This is a picture of me with my foster brothers Booda and Gizmo on Easter Day. Foster Mom thought we all looked really cute with our Easter bandanas. At least she didn't make us wear rabbit ears, although she said she had been really tempted to get us some..

Mom's human son and granddaughter and their black labrador, Dax, came to visit us. He's big but he's really friendly and fun. Gizmo and I played with him, but Booda didn't 'cause he doesn't like big dogs. Don't really know why.

Last Friday Booda and I and Foster Mom spent the afternoon at PetSmart's Adoption Week. I hope a nice family wants to adopt me. I love my Foster Mom and Dad but I would really like a forever home of my own, with kids and a stay-at-home Mom. Maybe even another little dog to play with?

Foster Mom says the right family will be there when the time is right. I just have to be patient.

How to Relax

I believe relaxing is a very important part of  doggy life. It's a big part of my every day routine.

Here are some pics Foster Mom took of me relaxing on the couch in the living room.

THIS is called relaxing!

You wanted something?

I'm a VERY laid back fellow.

Me And My Pals

This is a picture of me and my two foster brothers, Gizmo the Peke and Booda the Shih. Booda is a foster like me. He came here Saturday evening. I''m the cute one on the left. ...Just kidding. Foster Mom says we're all cute.

We spent a lot of time outside today. I mostly just  lay in the sun while Gizmo and Booda wasted time chasing squirrels. Don't they know you can't catch them?

Now that the weather has turned nice Foster Mom says we'll be able to be outside a lot. I'm glad. I love lying in the warm sunshine.

I save my energy for our walk in the evening. So much to see and so many things to smell.

New Steps And A New Friend

Hi All,

I don't have to be carried down the stairs anymore!  I can do it all by myself.
Going up was easy. Going down seemed a little scary at first, but in the last week I've become a pro at it.

And guess what? I have a second foster brother.

Booda, a Shih Tzu came to live with us last night. His Mom is moving somewhere far far away called Costa Rica and she can't take him with her. He's  very unhappy, because his Mom's mother took his sister to live with her, and he has never been without her before. So he's really missing his Mom and his sister.

Foster Mom says Gizmo and I have to be patient with him, just like everyone was with me when I came here a month ago, and he'll get used to all of us.

I know exactly what Booda is going through. It's really hard to lose your family. But Foster Mom and Dad give us  lots of  love to make it a little easier.

3 Weeks With JoJo

JoJo has now been here three weeks and has really settled into the daily routine.

He has completed his antibiotics and I'm glad to report his ear infection has cleared up and he doesn't need ear drops anymore. (He really did not like that).

He lets us know when he needs to go out, and is a very well-behaved little guy.

We've been limiting him to one short walk a day for now, but he's getting "antsy" and would love to run and play.  He has tried to get our Gizmo interested a few times, but fortunatley Gizmo is not ready for that yet, as JoJo still needs to remain quiet for at least two more weeks.  So JoJo spends a lot of time sleeping....storing his energy for later.

We'll all be happy when mid-April arrives, the spring rains have washed away the winter muck, and the grass starts to green up. JoJo will be very ready to do a little frolicking.

A Quiet Weekend

Not much happening, but I'm glad to report that Gizmo is no longer giving me the cold shoulder. He'll stay on the couch when Foster Mom or Dad take us both up to sit beside them. He doesn't turn away in disdain and jump off anymore. Foster Mom says he's accepted me. She says we'll be playing together in no time.

I've met lots of other dogs and their kids on our short walks. Mom says I'll be able to play with them soon, when the snow has all gone, and my "quiet" time is finished.. I guess I just have to be patient.

I have to be quiet for at least two more weeks. No running or playing for me yet. Just a quiet walk once a day is all the exercise I can have for now. So I spend a lot of time napping at Foster Mom's feet when she's on the computer. Or sitting beside Dad when he's watching TV. I like that. He gives good belly rubs.

Off to the Groomer

Foster Mom says I have to go to the groomer today to get my nails clipped. She says they're way too long, and neither she nor my foster Dad like doing nails.

She also says she'll be real glad when this "messy" season is over, because even on short walks my white belly fur gets filthy and even yuckier  than Gizmo's fur, which touches the ground.  I guess she doesn't like having to clean us up any more than we like it. Of course she could just let us be. We don't really mind a little dirt. But I guess that's not going to happen!

So off to the groomer's we go. I like going for car rides (except for really long ones like the trip here from Ohio), so it should be fun.

I Knew I Could Do That!

Foster Mom and Dad have been carrying me up and down the stairs from living room to bedroom and den every day since I arrived a week ago.  There's a gate at the top of the stairs which they close at night when we go all go to bed.

During the day Gizmo (that's my foster brother) runs up or down the stairs whenever he pleases. But most of the day we just stay in the living room downstairs or go out on the patio if we need.

Gizmo's allowed out a lot, especially if he sees squirrels on the fence. Then he runs back and forth along the fence, and barks at them when they run up the tree and jump into the next yard. I'm only allowed out for a pee right now, and we all go for short walk in the afternoon. Gizmo gets a walk in the morning and another long walk after dinner. Mom says I'll be able to go out and run with Gizmo when I'm over my rest period. How long is a month?

Every evening we have a Tea and Treats time. Mom fixes the tea tray and Dad carries me up the stairs to the den, where we get our treats. Mom has been carrying  me up during the day if she's going to be on the computer in the den upstairs for a long time. (I guess she wants to keep an eye on me to make sure I stay quiet).

This evening I didn't wait for Foster Dad to pick me up. I just followed Gizmo up the stairs. Foster Mom and Dad were in shock! They thought I didn't know how to climb the stairs!!!.

I surprised everyone. I didn't try to go upstairs by myself before because I didn't know I was allowed. Now we all know.. I can do that!

The gate is closed at the top of the stairs. The lights are all off downstairs, so I don't think I want to go down in the dark anyway.

Sniff Sniff Sniff

Yesterday afternoon was great. Gizmo ( that's my Pekingese foster brother) and I went for a short walk through the neighborhood with Foster Mom and Dad.

Foster Mom and Dad said we walk together very nicely.

So many new scents to sniff out.

This is known teritory to Gizmo, but it's all new to me!

I'll be glad when my resting period is over and I can go for longer walks.
SOO much to see and smell.  So many new doggies to meet.
I met some of Gizmo's neighbors and friends when we were out.
And some of them have kids in their family. I LOVE kids.

More Pics Of Me

Hi Again,

Foster Mom says I'm not easy to photograph because I keep going to the camera and get too close before she has a chance to click.

She did manage to get these this morning;

Everyone who meets me says I'm a real sweetie- pie.
What do you think?

Napping Is Good

Here I am, napping again.

Foster Mom says I need a lot of rest to allow the Heartworm Treatment time to do it's work.

Napping is good, but I can't wait to be able to do a little running and playing. Foster Mom says I'll be able to be more active in another month. She says it will be nice outside by then and I won't have to worry about getting my beautiful white fur all muddy and dirty.

In the meantime I have to be content with going out on the patio and a short daily walk.

Napping is good.

About JoJo (Joe)

JoJo (JOE) is a beautiful Male Cavalier King Charles Spaniel/English Toy Spaniel

Although we don't know much about his background, it is quite obvious when meeting him that he was somebdody's baby before he ended up in Rescue.

JoJo is about 7 years of age (Vet's best guess-timate) and  weighs 17.8 pounds.

JoJo is not neutered yet, as he tested Heartworm positive and is curently on antibiotics while convalescing from Heartworm treatment. He will be tested again in 4 months, and if all goes well, will be neutered at that time. Jo Jo also has a couple of other medical issues which will be addressed at that time. He is also being treated for an ear infection.

The vet found cataracts on both eyes (quite common in adult Cavalier King Charles Spaniels), possible umbilical hernia ( which usually is removed at the same time a dog is neutered, and thus has not been done yet).

JoJo is completely house trained and leash trained. He is limited to very short walks until mid-April as he needs to be kept quiet to allow time for the Heartworm treatment to finish its work.

JoJo is a darling little dog who loves to be petted and getting a belly rub. He likes both people  and other dogs, and would really like a home with another little dog and/or children to play with. JoJo needs a home where someone is there all the time. He will follow his person around all day.  He does not like being alone.

Loyal Rescue Dog Joe

Hi, I'm JoJo

If you call me I'll come to you wagging my tail as fast as I can, all ready for you to pet me.

Not only am I really friendly, I'm also very cute.

I'm mostly white, with mahogany and chestnut markings and chestnut ears. I have big beautiful black eyes, a cute little turned up nose, and a really waggly tail.

My foster parents picked me up on Sunday afternoon, so I've been here for four days now.

There's another doggy here. Foster Mom and Dad call him Gizmo. He's a purebred Pekingese and foster Mom says he's being true to his breed with his uppity and disdainful attitude to me. She says he'll come around, that he's really a very friendly and loving  little dog, and that he's just suffering from something called jealousy. He's probably getting better already. He was much nicer today than when I first got here.

I'll be making regular entries on this blog thing, and foster Mom will be filling you in on how I'm progressing as well.
