About Loyal Rescue

LOYAL Rescue is comprised of volunteers dedicated to the welfare/rescue of small breed dogs from pounds, kill shelters, unwanted, abandoned, neglectful, abusive situations, puppymills, etc.

Although our focus in rescue remains with the small breed dog, we do work with other rescue organizations to ensure that any animal we hear about in need comes first, regardless of their size and currently have many large breed dogs in rescue.

What we do
To ensure that we meet our goals to save a dog’s life, or improve upon its living conditions, we liaison with kill & non-kill shelters, pounds, other rescues, owners and whomever else we can.  We do believe that with these combined efforts we can cut down on the number of animals that are euthanized needlessly each year.

If you or anyone you know no longer wishes to care for their dog, please take comfort in knowing that we are here to help. When an owner surrenders an animal into our rescue, we are not judgmental to the factors as to why an owner would like to find an alternate home for their dog(s).  We respect everyone’s privacy.  In fact we are aware that not all dogs and all humans can live harmoniously within the same environment.  Situation and lifestyle changes are inevitable, and not everyone can care for an animal with special needs.

Within the comforts of our approved foster homes, we then provide the necessary medical attention, rehabilitation, emotional support and re-training for all rescued dogs that come into our care.  Only through careful screening, do we find loving  forever homes for these delicate animals.

When a rescue dog comes to us
Rescue dogs come from variety of situations and depending upon their past experiences, they can be fragile - physically and emotionally.  These rescue dogs often require extensive re-training to trust humans and other animals.  Most times, they also have to learn housetraining, and other socially acceptable behaviors.

Most rescue dogs require expensive medical treatments such as liver shunt surgery, tumor removal, unattended broken bones, dental surgery, ear infections, and spaying/neutering.  As well, most require previously unattended regular maintenance such as internal/external parasite tests, treatments and vaccinations.  We provide the appropriate dental screenings through the assistance of our veterinarian, to aid in the decision as to whether or not we should go ahead with dental cleanings, or teeth extractions.  The costs do add up.

These rescue dogs may encounter battles in life such as fears, separation anxiety, cataracts, incontinence, diabetes, heart problems, blindness, deafness, patella luxation, epilepsy, skin & food allergies, hip dysplasia, arthritis, collapsing tracheas -- all of which will have to be addressed.
