A Quiet Weekend

Not much happening, but I'm glad to report that Gizmo is no longer giving me the cold shoulder. He'll stay on the couch when Foster Mom or Dad take us both up to sit beside them. He doesn't turn away in disdain and jump off anymore. Foster Mom says he's accepted me. She says we'll be playing together in no time.

I've met lots of other dogs and their kids on our short walks. Mom says I'll be able to play with them soon, when the snow has all gone, and my "quiet" time is finished.. I guess I just have to be patient.

I have to be quiet for at least two more weeks. No running or playing for me yet. Just a quiet walk once a day is all the exercise I can have for now. So I spend a lot of time napping at Foster Mom's feet when she's on the computer. Or sitting beside Dad when he's watching TV. I like that. He gives good belly rubs.

Off to the Groomer

Foster Mom says I have to go to the groomer today to get my nails clipped. She says they're way too long, and neither she nor my foster Dad like doing nails.

She also says she'll be real glad when this "messy" season is over, because even on short walks my white belly fur gets filthy and even yuckier  than Gizmo's fur, which touches the ground.  I guess she doesn't like having to clean us up any more than we like it. Of course she could just let us be. We don't really mind a little dirt. But I guess that's not going to happen!

So off to the groomer's we go. I like going for car rides (except for really long ones like the trip here from Ohio), so it should be fun.

I Knew I Could Do That!

Foster Mom and Dad have been carrying me up and down the stairs from living room to bedroom and den every day since I arrived a week ago.  There's a gate at the top of the stairs which they close at night when we go all go to bed.

During the day Gizmo (that's my foster brother) runs up or down the stairs whenever he pleases. But most of the day we just stay in the living room downstairs or go out on the patio if we need.

Gizmo's allowed out a lot, especially if he sees squirrels on the fence. Then he runs back and forth along the fence, and barks at them when they run up the tree and jump into the next yard. I'm only allowed out for a pee right now, and we all go for short walk in the afternoon. Gizmo gets a walk in the morning and another long walk after dinner. Mom says I'll be able to go out and run with Gizmo when I'm over my rest period. How long is a month?

Every evening we have a Tea and Treats time. Mom fixes the tea tray and Dad carries me up the stairs to the den, where we get our treats. Mom has been carrying  me up during the day if she's going to be on the computer in the den upstairs for a long time. (I guess she wants to keep an eye on me to make sure I stay quiet).

This evening I didn't wait for Foster Dad to pick me up. I just followed Gizmo up the stairs. Foster Mom and Dad were in shock! They thought I didn't know how to climb the stairs!!!.

I surprised everyone. I didn't try to go upstairs by myself before because I didn't know I was allowed. Now we all know.. I can do that!

The gate is closed at the top of the stairs. The lights are all off downstairs, so I don't think I want to go down in the dark anyway.

Sniff Sniff Sniff

Yesterday afternoon was great. Gizmo ( that's my Pekingese foster brother) and I went for a short walk through the neighborhood with Foster Mom and Dad.

Foster Mom and Dad said we walk together very nicely.

So many new scents to sniff out.

This is known teritory to Gizmo, but it's all new to me!

I'll be glad when my resting period is over and I can go for longer walks.
SOO much to see and smell.  So many new doggies to meet.
I met some of Gizmo's neighbors and friends when we were out.
And some of them have kids in their family. I LOVE kids.

More Pics Of Me

Hi Again,

Foster Mom says I'm not easy to photograph because I keep going to the camera and get too close before she has a chance to click.

She did manage to get these this morning;

Everyone who meets me says I'm a real sweetie- pie.
What do you think?

Napping Is Good

Here I am, napping again.

Foster Mom says I need a lot of rest to allow the Heartworm Treatment time to do it's work.

Napping is good, but I can't wait to be able to do a little running and playing. Foster Mom says I'll be able to be more active in another month. She says it will be nice outside by then and I won't have to worry about getting my beautiful white fur all muddy and dirty.

In the meantime I have to be content with going out on the patio and a short daily walk.

Napping is good.

About JoJo (Joe)

JoJo (JOE) is a beautiful Male Cavalier King Charles Spaniel/English Toy Spaniel

Although we don't know much about his background, it is quite obvious when meeting him that he was somebdody's baby before he ended up in Rescue.

JoJo is about 7 years of age (Vet's best guess-timate) and  weighs 17.8 pounds.

JoJo is not neutered yet, as he tested Heartworm positive and is curently on antibiotics while convalescing from Heartworm treatment. He will be tested again in 4 months, and if all goes well, will be neutered at that time. Jo Jo also has a couple of other medical issues which will be addressed at that time. He is also being treated for an ear infection.

The vet found cataracts on both eyes (quite common in adult Cavalier King Charles Spaniels), possible umbilical hernia ( which usually is removed at the same time a dog is neutered, and thus has not been done yet).

JoJo is completely house trained and leash trained. He is limited to very short walks until mid-April as he needs to be kept quiet to allow time for the Heartworm treatment to finish its work.

JoJo is a darling little dog who loves to be petted and getting a belly rub. He likes both people  and other dogs, and would really like a home with another little dog and/or children to play with. JoJo needs a home where someone is there all the time. He will follow his person around all day.  He does not like being alone.

Loyal Rescue Dog Joe

Hi, I'm JoJo

If you call me I'll come to you wagging my tail as fast as I can, all ready for you to pet me.

Not only am I really friendly, I'm also very cute.

I'm mostly white, with mahogany and chestnut markings and chestnut ears. I have big beautiful black eyes, a cute little turned up nose, and a really waggly tail.

My foster parents picked me up on Sunday afternoon, so I've been here for four days now.

There's another doggy here. Foster Mom and Dad call him Gizmo. He's a purebred Pekingese and foster Mom says he's being true to his breed with his uppity and disdainful attitude to me. She says he'll come around, that he's really a very friendly and loving  little dog, and that he's just suffering from something called jealousy. He's probably getting better already. He was much nicer today than when I first got here.

I'll be making regular entries on this blog thing, and foster Mom will be filling you in on how I'm progressing as well.
